Kensington Mini Security Slot Featured on Lenovo Devices

Lenovo Is the First Manufacturer to Implement New Security Technology from Kensington

Kensington, a worldwide leader in delivering smart. safe. simple.TM computing accessories, today announced that Lenovo® is the first manufacturer to launch ultra-thin devices that feature the new Kensington Mini Security Slot design for reliable physical security, even on the smallest of devices. Lenovo features the new Kensington Mini Security Slot in many of its ultra-thin devices.

Optimized for integration into ultra-slim devices slimmer than 12mm, the Kensington Mini Security Slot is compatible with the Kensington MiniSaverTM Mobile Lock featuring CleatTM Locking Technology. Lenovo has implemented this advanced technology for mobile device security on many of its new systems including ultra-thin ThinkPad and Lenovo tablet, ultrabooks and laptop devices, providing complete physical security for both BYOD and enterprise applications.

"We selected Kensington's Mini Security Slot design because it delivers industry-leading reliability and integrity for the security our customers demand in the ultra-thin device they desire," said Jan Solar, Worldwide Marketing and Portfolio Management, Lenovo. "We have trusted Kensington security solutions for decades, and are pleased to implement its latest innovative security design in our new line of light, high-performance laptops and tablets. Together, we are delivering the thin innovation customers want to power their highly mobile lives."

Kensington is the market leader in locking-slot specifications, locking technology and physical device locks. With over 20 million units sold, the company is the de facto standard in security slot technology. For more than 20 years, Kensington has delivered security products to businesses, large and small, including leading retailers, telecommunications companies, health providers and global financial institutions - as well as the technology manufacturers that supply them.

"Together, Kensington and Lenovo are leading the charge in delivering physical security for ultra-thin computing devices," said Rob Humphrey, Director of Global Product Management, Kensington. "By leveraging our comprehensive OEM Developers Kit and new Security Slot Specifications, Lenovo was able to achieve record time-to-market delivery with its new laptops and tablets that deliver Kensington's world-class security technology for the mobile device market."

Kensington's Security Slot Development Kit, used by Lenovo to develop its new ThinkPad line, offers security solutions for laptops and devices in multiple form factors. The kit includes options for ultra-slim, slim and moderate form factor devices, laptops and peripherals. It also provides expert guidance on slot implementations including slot strength and device shell materials so that the slot will deliver exceptional protection in the areas of torque or pull, and provide a compatible fit with Kensington locking technology.

Kensington invented the computer security slot more than 20 years ago, and consistently introduces new, innovative products and solutions designed to protect organizations' most vital assets - computing devices and confidential data. Kensington's family of physical security accessories, including MiniSaverTM, ClickSafe®, MicroSaver®, SecureBackTM, Desktop and Peripherals locking kit, and the industry standard Kensington Security SlotTM, is designed to address the escalating demand for protection against loss of devices and data.

The Kensington Security Slot Development Kit is available now. It consists of a Security Slot Development Guide, a Slot Sample, a Mobile and Ultra-Thin Laptop Lock. This comprehensive kit allows OEM and ODM developers to test the locks in a slot and determine the exact fit and requirements to implement into their devices.
